We are pleased to announce Charlie Dalhousie has successfully completed his internship and has joined the team as a full-time machinist. Charlie was the first student as part of a new partnership with City College Peterborough, in which this partnership aims to give students with learning difficulties and disabilities to engage with valuable work experience and to gain new skills.
Charlie started his internship in June 2021 on a three day a week placement, whilst attending college the other two days. After six months of hard work, he progressed onto doing a five day a week placement. Over the course of his internship Charlie has learned a plethora of skills, both technical and social and has become a valued part of the team. He is able to be left unsupervised whilst confidently being able to run CNC turning and CNC milling machines.
"I was at college doing a Motor Vehicle course when I saw this job opportunity at Westcombe. I decided to go for it and prove to myself and others that I can be successful."
We are highly impressed with Charlie's performance over the past year, and are delighted to have him join us as a full-time workshop employee. We look forward to providing Charlie with more opportunities to grow, as well as future internships with City College Peterborough.
